I’m Mike Shapiro, a grad student in English lit at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Back in college, I blogged under the delusion that everybody would want to read what I had to write; now that I’m in grad school, I blog under the delusion that someone will want to read what I have to write.
When I’m not being delusional here, I’m being delusional about my dissertation (painting in 20th-century novels: Proust, Woolf, Joyce, Ishiguro, Rushdie).

The banner photo is of Helen C. White Hall, named for the novelist, scholar and teacher who was at the heart of the Wisconsin–Madison English department for the first half of the 20th century.
